Exploring Havasu: Kayaking


Paddle sports have been rapidly growing in popularity in Lake Havasu City, and more and more kayaks have been popping up all over the lake. It’s a great form of exercise, it’s stress-relieving, and it’s a fun and unique way to enjoy Lake Havasu’s beautiful views and wildlife. There are several places from where to launch, including Rotary Beach, the Mesquite Bay non-motorized launch ramp, and the Bill Williams River launch ramp.

It’s common to see kayakers taking a sunset paddle around the island or a leisurely trip through the gorge. Lake Havasu is the ideal place to participate in a sport that encourages unplugging, slowing down and enjoying nature’s beauty. When kayaking along the Colorado River around Lake Havasu, it’s important to remember to bring enough water and wear sunscreen as the weather continues to heat up.

For those interested in learning how to kayak, wanting to check out some new spots or meet fellow paddlers, head out to Rotary Beach to meet with the Lake Havasu Paddlers organization. Members of this local group are there almost every morning and are always willing to share the beautiful experience of kayaking with fellow paddlers.

Lake Havasu is perfect for both first timers and kayaking veterans alike. For beginners, it’s a great idea to rent a kayak before investing in owning one.

Luckily, there are plenty of places in town to learn about the different types of kayaks, and try them out. Whether going for an all-day Saturday adventure or a quick jaunt after work, there are endless places to explore in this gorgeous area.
