The Havasu Stingrays took to the water last weekend to participate in the club’s annual Swim-A-Thon last weekend to raise funds for team expenses.
According to head coach Rick Wheeler, the Stingrays participated in a challenge that many of the swimmers had never attempted before.
“With so many new faces on the team this year, watching them rise to the occasion and swim their hearts out reminded me why I continue to coach; every swimmer achieved goals that far exceeded their expectations,” Wheeler said.
The objective was to complete as many laps as possible within a two-hour window.
The winners were, First, Anna Bengard; Second, Carter Blair; and third, Brianna Baumkirchner
“While we normally use this event as a guide for the annual Coach Mike Memorial Lake Swim, unfortunately, we will not be running the lake swim this year. We look forward to bringing that event back next year,” Wheeler said.
The coach took a moment to congratulate all the swimmers and the parents who supported this event, and to thank the community for its generous donations.
“I truly appreciate all the support we receive. If you would like to donate to the team, please contact Coach Rick at hsstheadcoach@gmail.com.
