When pets find themselves in an emergency health situation, they only have their humans to rely on for help.

And in Lake Havasu City, there are so many faithful furry family members, learning how to take care of them in an emergency is an important piece of the puzzle of pet ownership.

Because of the large number of cats and dogs in Lake Havasu City, the Frontline Coalition is hosting the Pet CPR/First Aid Class™ Program for pets Sunday, at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center, 100 Park Ave., in rooms 155-156.

The class lasts about 6 and a half hours from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The class is open to the public and to professionals and offers a variety of information and instructions.

The topics include Understanding of Canine and Feline Anatomy, Canine and Feline CPR, Rescue Breathing, Choking, Insect, Snake Bites and Stings, and so much more.

Registration includes a 40-page handbook, a professional certificate and a starter pet First Aid kit with an emergency muzzle for safety.

The cost of registration varies from $125 to $160.

Karina Snyder, owner/operator of Zip And Clip Mobile grooming, said, “I’m so excited to announce that we will be having a CPR/First Aid Class here in Havasu, open to pros and public.”

Snyder said she had noticed a lack of resources for cats and dogs and a high demand.

“I started researching CPR for dogs since we have human CPR class, there has to be one for pets. Surprisingly enough, I came across Malinda’s ad on a groomer page on Facebook,” she said.

Snyder took the class in Phoenix and loved it and wanted the Lake Havasu community to have access to it.

Malinda Malone is the instructor  who will present the class. She is a member of the Frontline Coalition.
