Lake Havasu City honored its veterans Monday morning with a parade on McCulloch Boulevard.
Military organizations and groups participated in the parade, handing out flags and candy to those along the parade route.
After the parade, a ceremony was hosted at the VFW, with Commandant Omer Ethier and Mayor Cal Sheehy as the featured speakers.
Omer and Donna Ethier were both presented with the Veteran and Auxiliary of the Year award by Kristin Lietz. Gold Star Mothers were also honored with bricks that were placed in a stairway to honor their sons and daughters that were lost while in the military.
Following the ceremony, the Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon cutting for the new mural that was recently painted on the back wall of the VFW, located at 266 London Bridge Road.

Artists Aniko Doman and Adam Hegedus, of Las Vegas, painted the mural in honor of all veterans.
“This mural is close to my heart,” said muralist Aniko Doman.
“I loved hearing the honks of people driving by as we were painting,” said muralist Adam Hegedus.
According to Doman, the mural took six weeks to paint and includes Civil War, Vietnam and present day soldiers, as well as the London Bridge to honor veterans.
Another mural “Stairway to Heaven” and a display of “In Flanders Fields” were also unveiled Monday at the VFW.
Here are photos from the events.

The VFW wants to thank you for the many great pictures that were taken showing the parade and the celebration dedicating the memorial Tribute wall honoring all those who have served this great nation of ours. I especially want to thank you for capturing the presentation of the mini tiles to the Gold Star Mothers. Our aim was to honor all veterans who served in the military not just those who saw combat. We could not have done what we did without their support, and we are proud to be the most patriotic city in America.
