Adaptive Golf And Other Sports is a local nonprofit that includes disc golf and traditional golf for individuals with different abilities and now participants can enjoy the sport of pickleball, thanks to a partnership with special needs agencies in Lake Havasu City.

“It became over 100 degrees outside on the concrete at the the golf course to play so after taking a survey to found out what other sports the special needs community would enjoy, the answer was pickleball and fishing,” said Craig Adams with Adaptive Golf And Other Sports.

“So we now have pickleball available at the Aquatic Center with all the proper approvals.”

Adaptive Golf and Other Sports nonprofit has been bringing smiles to athletes of all abilities in Lake Havasu City for seven  years. The organization works with special needs individuals and gets them out on the golf course, not only to learn the sport, but to also compete in tournaments.

As for pickleball, according to Adams, it was more than three months of planning to finally offer pickleball to its list of sports and get the proper channels to do so. Residents from New Horizons, RISE and Milemarkers all now get to participate in the newly added activity.

“We have three hours of time donated by the city which gives back to our special needs community at the Aquatic Center,” Adams said.  I find that they really enjoy pickleball and want to play all the time.”

The nonprofit also has resumed its golf activities by  playing indoors  at the golf simulators offered at the local Golf n’ Brews on McCulloch Boulevard.

“So far, the feedback has been fantastic, and we want to invite any individual with any disability to participate. They would just need to contact me beforehand in order to get the proper legal paperwork and waivers signed to play,” said Adams.
