A special survivor’s “Make-A-Wish” request came true, thanks to the generosity of Anderson Powersports.
“Anderson Powersports was contacted by Make-A-Wish Foundation because he wanted a certain side by side unit (Can-Am Maverick X3 Max RS Turbo) that we had,” said Andrea Foote, Director of Marketing at Anderson Auto group.
“Jacob” (for patient privacy reasons last name intentionally left out for this story ) was first diagnosed with leukemia when he was only 16 years old and has seen a few hospital rooms over the years. According to the Mayo Clinic, leukemia is a form of cancer of the body’s blood-forming tissues, which includes the lymphatic system and bone marrow.
Some forms of leukemia can be more common in young children. Other forms can occur in adults as well. When someone is diagnosed with leukemia, their bone marrow produces an excessive amount of white blood cells (which are important and known as infection fighters) but those excessive amounts can’t function properly to fight infections and illnesses like they typically do.
When Anderson Powersports learned that Jacob’s wish was to own a side by side unit, they knew they could make it happen and were glad to work together with the Make -A -Wish Foundation.
“The partnership with Make-A-Wish Foundation was very special. Jacob is a survivor of leukemia. He went through a lot as a young man, and it was very special moment for us to be a part of making his wish come true and for his family to be there too, Foote said.
“His family was so thankful and appreciative and couldn’t stop thanking us. His family was amazing too.”
