If you are interested in some chowder sampling or watching local restaurants compete for the title of best chowder then the 4th Annual Southwest Chowderfest is the place to be this Saturday at Lake Havasu State Park.

Every year, the event is hosted by Soroptimists International of Lake Havasu City. However, this year, the Chamber Foundation For Education And Leadership (CFEL) is also collaborating with the organization. Both which are local nonprofits.

Title sponsor includes Anderson Toyota along with other local business sponsors. Funds raised are all for a good cause.

“For Soroptimist, the proceeds benefit women and girls in our community through educational grants and healthy relationship workshops, said Michael Alan Furniture and Design General Manager,Vanessa Lieson.

“For CFEL, the proceeds benefit its youth paid internship program for high school students and it’s comprehensive leadership development program to identify resources and educate individuals to assume leadership roles within our community,” Lieson said.

Local restaurants will serve up their own version of chowder and will compete to earn bragging rights after competing for the highly sought after “Golden Ladle” that is awarded to the winner of the best chowder.
