Bluegrass Festival Attracts Many Music Fans

The 12th annual Bluegrass on the Beach last weekend brought a variety of spectators, vendors and performers to Lake Havasu City.

The unique style of music appeared to make people feel good. Many onlookers tapped their feet, nodded their heads and moved anyway to the beat of the tunes.

Some of the bands that performed included The Boxcars, Larry Stephenson Band, The Bluegrass Brothers and the U.S. Navy Bluegrass Band.

One of the several bluegrass fans, Tom Coffman, came from Sierra Vista, Ariz. “It’s fun music. I don’t think anybody could listen to it without tapping their foot,” he said.

Along with the music, there were plenty of vendors with clothing and snacks. More than 30 vendors were set up around the wide pavilion area and the stage filled with diverse shirts, funnel cakes, hot dogs and smoothies.

Despite all the fun, some people really have to get down to business. At many events, the Community Emergency Response Team, or C.E.R.T. is on standby. Coriene Mier has been working on the C.E.R.T. team at the Bluegrass Festival for nine years. As a former “groupie” of the festival, “it doesn’t feel like work most of the time,” Mier said. However, when injuries do happen, she does the best she can to get the person back out and listening to the music.

Overall, the festival was music-filled time for all that attended.
