Lake Havasu Special Olympics hosted their annual Breakfast of Champions Thursday morning at Calvary Baptist Church. Attendees included Lake Havasu City Police and Fire departments, Mohave County Sherriff’s Department officers, Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy, and other Special Olympics supporters from throughout the community.
The Star Wars themed breakfast kicked off with the Presentation of Colors by the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office and bagpipes by Justin Bacon, of the San Bernandino Sheriff’s Department, and Nick Anderson and Roxy Harshman sang the National Anthem.
Arizona State Trooper Mark Foote said a prayer and Rebecca Stone, Superintendent of Lake Havasu Unified School District, emcee’d the event.
Special guest speakers included President and CEO of Special Olympics Arizona Jamie Heckerman, as well as Kyle Ridgeway of LHCPD, parent Jenni Bliss, and athlete Susan Trimmer.
The highlight of the morning was Lake Havasu Special Olympic athletes Josh Manning, Keira Gronewald, Michael Carton, Sierra Bunnell, and Josh Kitterman telling the audience what Special Olympics meant to them. Andrea Foote of Anderson Auto Group facilitated the panel.
