The Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary hosted its December pancake breakfast Saturday. Breakfast was served as a fundraiser, earning money to benefit the fire department.

All proceeds from the event goes back to the firefighters who ensure the safety of the area..

“Everything goes straight back to the firefighters. They’re able to buy equipment. Last year, we raised $45,000 for them and bought new equipment for the department ,” Rich Fountain, president of Desert Hills Fire District Auxiliary, said.

Showing the holiday spirit, the Fire District Auxiliary also collected unwrapped toys to support the children of the community who are in need.

They set up a collection table which filled up with donated gifts quickly.

The Fire District Auxiliary hosts seven pancake breakfasts throughout the year, with the next one set for Jan. 3.
