When a postulant proves too high spirited for religious life, she is sent to serve as the governess for the seven children of a widowed naval captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters coupled with her generosity of spirit, captures the heart of the stern Captain von Trapp. Upon returning from their honeymoon, they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis. The family’s escape over the mountains on the eve of World War II is one of the most inspirational theatrical finales. The Sound of Music is celebrated for its heartwarming tale of love and family, the memorable songs, Do-Re-Mi”, “My Favorite Things”, “Edelweiss”, “Climb Ev’ry Mountain”, and “The Sound of Music” as well as reminding us the power of music to bring joy and hope.
