This year’s Havasu Mud Madness event was a huge success. The event, which is hosted by the local non-profit Friends of the Fair, was staffed by about 15 adults and over 100 youth volunteers. Some 400 participants navigated their way through 16 obstacles over, under, and around the course. Ten teams brought in large groups to run the course as well. Local fitness centers, gyms and CrossFit organizations supported participant entries greatly.
New this year was the children’s course which saw about 200 kids running a modified course through the same obstacles many of their parents did. Some parents even ran the course a second time with their children. Event organizers said that their will be many enhancements for next year’s kid course.
One hundred percent of the entry fees collected help fund special events at the Rodeo and Fair Grounds which includes Little Delbert Days and youth group events.
Volunteer organizations included:
- Lake Havasu City Police Explorers
- Civil Air Patrol
- Sea Scouts
- Lake Havasu High School Student Council
- Lake Havasu High School National Honor Society
- Interact Club – Thunderbolt
- Community Emergency Response Team – CERT
