The Grace Arts LIVE community theater cast and crew present the popular American musical ‘CHICAGO’ opening Friday. Eight shows times are set during the next few weeks in Lake Havasu City.
The Prohibition-era is the backdrop for this crime thriller and justice saga. Its colorful characters are dressed in fishnets, felt hats, flapper fringe and sequins. On stage, there’s a toe-tapping Big Band including brass and woodwind instruments, piano keyboards and a trap set.
Cymbals crash to keep time as the cast dances the Charleston, the cell-block Tango, and a tap dance or two as the storyline progresses through murder, greed, deception and treachery.
The theater’s website, www.graceartslive.com, reports the story as a satire on corruption when it comes to criminal authority. The concept of the celebrity criminal emerges. It is billed as “show-stopping songs and astonishing dance.”
Showtimes are 7:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays; and 2 p.m. on Sundays. Show dates include April 7-9, April 14-15 (Dark on April 16, Easter); April 21-23. Tickets $25/adults (plus tax and fees); $12/youth who are 17 and younger (plus tax and fees).
Grace Arts LIVE is at 2146 N. McCulloch Blvd., in Havasu. For more information visit www.graceartslive.com, or call 928-505-2787.
