The 11th Annual Lake Havasu Balloon Festival has come to a close.
According to festival director Steve Ticknor, “”1,300 volunteers filled about 2,500 shifts, and about 100 vendors participated in the event.”
There were 75 balloon pilots from all over the United States and Canada who traveled to Lake Havasu to fly in the festival.
Despite the wind over the weekend, balloons had a window of opportunity to fly Friday morning in a mass ascension. The POW/MIA hot air balloon pilot Luke Cesnik and Lake Havasu Marine Corps League kicked off the morning with a flag ceremony and National Anthem.
Rotary, Lions and Kiwanis clubs host the Balloon Festival to raise money for local charities and nonprofits.
