This fall, the Lake Havasu City Fire Department was notified that the Fallen Heroes Wreath Program, Arizona Chapter, was seeking to honor any member of first responder organizations who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The LHCFD responded that the only firefighter lost in line of duty was Ron Holmgreen, who died of a heart attack after participating in a fire department drill. The email sent to FHWP indicated that Holmgreen had exhibited symptoms of cardiac distress during the drill. Holmgreen died June 14, 1994.

The FHWP sent a wreath to the LHCFD, and that wreath was placed by Joe Tobin on Holmgreen’s grave Dec. 7. The FHWP conducted services in the Phoenix area Dec. 7, honoring fallen first responders, as well as at police and fire memorials in downtown Phoenix.
