The Havasu Freedom Foundation hosted a Havasu Memorial Walkway Ceremony Saturday morning under the London Bridge. Forty-five family members representing World War II Navajo Code Talkers were in attendance to honor them.
Guest speakers included Mayor Cal Sheehy who read a proclamation from the city and author Laura Tohe and Zonnie Gorman.
The Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors conducted a ribbon cutting ceremony above the bricks in honor of Code Talkers and The Marine Corps Color Guard presented the Colors.
For information about the purchase of a brick for the walkway, visit havasumemorialwalkway.org. Half of the net proceeds go to the Marine Corps League for local veterans needs and the other half will go to the London Bridge Rotary Club for scholarships.
