RiverScene Magazine recently asked students to send in stories of their favorite teacher and why. Here are some of the entries we received from students in their own words from Nautilus Elementary. Other schools to come!

*My name is Citlali and my favorite teachers are Ms. Rapstad and Ms. McCoy. Ms. Rapstad was my favorite teacher because she would always inspire me, she would inspire me in reading and in drawing because she is really good at painting. Ms. Rapstad was really kinda and amazing because whenever I felt sad she would always cheer me up. I will always remember that. Ms. Rapstad was amazing because she always made school fun. My other favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy because she is always happy and a very funny person so she always makes me smile. That is why I’m always happy and excited to come to school. She also inspired me in reading too. So both of my favorite teachers were both reading and ELA teachers. Both really inspired me. Citlali – Nautilus

*My wonderful teacher, Ms. McCoy, is my favorite teacher. The fact that she is so caring and joyful makes me a cheerful person every day. The different relationships she has with each and every one of her students tells me how great of a person she is. She’s always open to anything you want to talk about. There’s definitely no sad days in her class. She will answer your questions to the best of her abilities and will teach you the lesson until you understand. The best part of her personality is how motivational she is. I will miss sixth grade for sure. Sophie W. – Nautilus

*Another one of my favorite teachers is Ms. Rapstad. She was always at school on time and always at school every day! She was always treating everyone equally, especially me! I was happy to help her around class, I would help her clean and organize the tables. One time she even got me peanuts from the teachers lounge. We’ve also done so many activities like rock candy and even frozen yogurt. I’m proud to say she is one of my favorite teachers! Vince-Nautilus

*My favorite teacher is Ms. Morgan because she is the nicest and most helpful teacher I’ve met. She helped me when I was confused or being bullied by someone. Even when I asked incredibly silly questions, she was fine with them. I even asked her “what’s my name” or something completely off the subject. But Ms. Morgan is definitely my #1 teacher! *Hi my name is Neftaly and my two favorite teachers are Ms. McCoy and Ms. Rapstad. The reason for Ms. McCoy being one of my favorite teachers is because she is motivating, has a great sense of humor and always made my sad days brighter. She also made me feel special. The reason for Ms. Rapstad being my favorite teachers is because she was always kind and supportive of everyone. She is also really into art which is something I also love doing. I will always remember these two marvelous teachers and how kind they were towards me. Neftaly-Nautilus

*Hi my name is Adam and my two favorite teachers are Ms. McCoy and Mrs. Morgan. I like Mrs. Morgan because she made my experience at Nautilus the best ever. I like Ms. McCoy as a teacher because she made my last year amazing and she also made me like reading for the first time. They made my experience at Nautilus the best. Adam-Nautilus

*Hi my name is Ruby and my favorite teacher is from Washington when I used to live there. My favorite teacher’s name is Mr. Butler. He was my 5th-grade teacher. Mr. Butler is my favorite teacher because he gave me different rules for the classroom. Rules like we were allowed to chew gum in class, we got to pick our partners most of the time and he put music on for us. Also, he had a class pet which was a bearded dragon lizard and encouraged us to write essays about any topic and transform them into posters for the hall. Lastly, he allowed us to take our lunch to the classroom and eat lunch with our friends there. Ruby-Nautilus

*Hello my name is Dylan and my favorite teacher was my kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Nigg. I liked her because she always helped me get through tough things and I liked her very well. She would always push to get through tough situations. Many things would be different if she wasn’t my kindergarten teacher. Dylan-Nautilus

*My favorite teacher is Mrs. Haylee Moss. Mrs. Moss is my favorite teacher because she has inspired and help me do a lot of things. Mrs. Moss was my fourth-grade teacher at Fort Mohave Elementary and my fourth-period technology teacher at Fort Mohave Jr. High School for my first semester. Mrs. Moss was my favorite teacher because she inspired and coaxed me to keep pursuing my football dreams. Mrs. Moss also helped me get promoted to the Pop Warner Firebird football team. Mrs. Moss not only helped me in my athletic area but also my academics. Mrs. Moss helped me get better at fractions and is the best teacher I ever had. Thank you, Mrs. Moss! *My favorite teachers are Ms. McCoy and Ms. McElwain because they were kind and understanding and helped me when I needed it. Ms. McCoy is a really cool teacher and kept me interested in reading a lot and helped me when I moved back. Ms.McElwain helped me when I needed help and inspired me to get better in math and have a little fun which made it easier. These teachers contributed to amazing years and I appreciate that. *Hi my name is Cooper and I am in sixth grade. My favorite teacher was my fourth-grade teacher named Ms. McElwain. She was my math teacher and now math is my favorite subject. She was my favorite teacher because she was so kind to me and all of the other students. She inspired me to do my best and inspired me to do anything. She always helped me during work and always answered all my questions. Cooper-Nautilus

*My favorite teacher throughout my school years is Ms. McCoy. Ms. McCoy inspires me every day when I come to school. She is always motivating me to do things that I think I cannot do. She is always there for me and is the main reason I’m excited and energetic to come to school. She is the funniest teacher that I ever had. She makes me laugh and helps me achieve my goals. *Hi my name is Sivanna and I am in sixth grade. My favorite teacher is Ms. McElwain because she helped me improve in math a lot. She also helped me improve my school work too. She answered all of my questions and helped me do better in school. She also inspired me to not to give up on anything in school or in life or in anything. That’s why Mrs. McElwain is my favorite teacher. Sivanna-Nautilus

*Hi my name is Seth and I am in sixth grade. My favorite teachers are Mrs. Porosky and Ms. McCoy. They both helped me reach to the top of my goals. They have formed me to have a great life and have a good education. They are the best teachers I have ever had. Yes, there may be amazing teachers in the future, but they are the most amazing teachers I will ever have. Seth-Nautilus

*My name is Aubree Connell, my favorite teacher is Ms. Garrison from Nautilus. Ms. Garrison is my favorite teacher because she tries hard to help people in any way possible. She is new to the school but is still one of the most known teachers. She is not only great in math but in many subjects. She makes sure everyone is happy and not left out. These are the reasons why she is my favorite teacher.

*My name is Andrew McIntyre and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from sixth grade at Nautilus Elementary Schol. Ms.McCoy is my favorite teacher because she is like a friend. She’s also a really nice teacher. Ms. McCoy makes reading fun and easy.

*My name is Brady and my favorite teacher is Ms. Morgan from first grade at Nautilus. She is my favorite teacher because she is always nice, calm, and respectful to everyone. She would always help if we needed help. Also, she would give us hugs in the morning to cheer us up.

*My mom is Charlotte and my favorite teacher is Ms.Johnson, my 5th-grade music teacher. She was my favorite teacher because she was very fun and she let me play on her piano. She could also play on the piano and sometimes she would play a duet with me. She was easy to talk to and we always had fun in her class. Sometimes I would talk to her during lunch and I could always make her laugh and she could always make me laugh back.

*My name is Christian and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from sixth grade at Nautilus. I like Ms. McCoy because she is nice. Ms. McCoy is funny. She gives us candy, pranks us, and plays outside with us.

*My name is Clarrissa and my favorite teacher is Mr. Goldsmith from third at Taylor Hicks elementary. Mr. Goldsmith is my favorite teacher because he was very funny, he would make a joke out of everything and I would basically laugh all day. He would favor me because I would always help clean his room. Mr. Goldsmith would bring us treats if we behaved for a week. Mostly he wouldn’t mind helping everyone. Mr. Goldsmith let me sit by my best friend when he separated us on his seating chart. I appreciate everything he did for me, he was an excellent teacher.

*My name is Haley and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from sixth grade. I like Ms. McCoy because she has always been really nice and funny. Also, I like how she comes to recess with us sometimes. When she comes outside, she plays volleyball with us. Ms. McCoy teaches us very well and I always remember her as a teacher.

*My name is Hector and my favorite teacher is Ms.McCoy from sixth grade. Ms.McCoy is my favorite teacher because she is really funny. Also, she helps me a lot on my reading and helps me understand how to write the sentences. Ms.McCoy also keeps up what the kids like and she is a very kind-hearted person.

*My name is Jessi and am a sixth-grade student. My favorite teacher is Ms.McCoy. Ms.McCoy is the most amazing awesome, intelligent, and fun teacher. She always makes hilarious jokes that make me and my fellow classmates laugh. She can be strict, but only because kids act out, but that makes her a great teacher. She always has a smile on her face and is always happy. I’m so glad that I got to spend my 6th-grade experience with Ms.McCoy.

*My name is Jordan and my favorite teacher is Ms.McCoy. She is my favorite teacher because she laughs a lot and lives her life like a kid. Example when we are talking to her she relates to stuff we did. I also like Ms. McCoy because she lets us have fun.

*My name is Justin Davis and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy. You have been such a great teacher this year. I went from failing grades to straight A’s because of how great you taught me. I wish you could be my next year teacher but that won’t happen. I am glad to finish my last year of elementary school with you. Thanks again and I hope to see you some time later down the road.

*My favorite teacher I have had was Mr. Dettman. He is one of my teachers from where I used to live. He was like my best friend. He was funny, smart, and nice. Whenever I was having a bad day, he would always be able to make me smile. I’m glad I got to have him as a teacher at Douglas Middle school in Box Elder, SD. Kloe Ringstad

*My name is Max Jimenez and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from 6th grade. The reason why is because she is very nice to every person and is really funny. She has a lot of funny moments with all of us. She helps me get what we are doing in class and shows what to do in class. She does a lot of fun things with us in class. She is one of my best teachers because she is very nice, funny, and cool.

*My name is Miguel and my favorite teacher is Mr. Zampogna from P.E. at Nautilus. He is always sincere unless you are acting bad. He does fun activities and can take a joke. But sometimes messes around with us.

*My name is Nicole-Lisa Jackson and my favorite teacher is Ms. and my favorite Ms. Brovin. She taught me the first three-quarters of my sixth-grade year at Mohave Valey Junior High. Ms. Brovin is a young outgoing teacher. Ms.Brovin liked most of the things I like which is also another factor that contributed to her becoming my favorite teacher. Ms. Brovin’s love of math and her ability to remain calm in aggravating and irritating situations made her my favorite teacher and I will never forget her.

*My name is Robert and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from 6th grade. First, Ms.McCoy is very nice and funny. Next, she lets people read anything they want. Also, she gives people second chances. Finally, she gives out prizes.

*My name is Servio and my favorite teacher is Miss Garrison. She is my favorite teacher because she is so funny and nice and she taught me a lot of manners.

*My name is Sierra and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from sixth grade. She is kind and very funny. Whenever I’m in her class, I laugh. She’s relatable and she says “dope” and roasted which was funny. She also made ELA fun. This is why she is my favorite teacher and I will miss her in middle school.

*My name is Tatiana and my favorite teacher is Ms. McCoy from sixth grade at Nautilus Elementary. Ms. McCoy is very nice and caring. She treats her students like as if we were her own. She is a great teacher with a lot of patience and personality. That is why I love Ms.McCoy.

*My name is Vance and my favorite teacher is Ms.McCoy. She is funny and not to serious about much. She also does my favorite subject, ELA which I love more then math. I also like when we can do free reading.
