Eight awards were presented Friday evening during an annual event at London Bridge Resort Convention Center. This year’s theme was Denim and Diamonds and hundreds turned out in sparkle and denim.
The awards are as follows:
Ambassador of the Year – Kathy Jo Baumer, works part-time at Juicy’s and volunteers with organizations including the Cancer Association and Western Arizona Humane Society.
Business and Education Leader – Hal Christiansen, who is a commercial realtor with Coldwell Banker and is a supporter of the K12 Foundation.
Whelan Leadership Award – Ray Apalategui, who is a shift supervisor at Sterilite, is recognized for starting a teamwork and motivation program at Sterilite in the wake of the Havasu Leadership Development 2015 class.
Ethics in Business Award – Dr. Tania Sobchuck, a local Optometrist, is recognized for her ethical business practices and contributions to various charitable groups in Havasu.
Outstanding Young Professional – Samie Jo Boyett, who works for Wells Fargo, and despite her young age, she is a role model at the bank and within all the volunteer organizations she works with.
Chamber Business of the Year – Arizona West All Sports, they are receiving the award for their support of one of the Chamber’s significant fundraisers.
Chamber Volunteer of Year – Scott Stroup, who owns Accurate Measures, has earned the award because he volunteers with everything the Chamber does.
Citizen of the Year – Steve Van Ella, who owns The Red Onion, has earned the award for his hard work and dedication to improving Havasu’s Downtown District.
