Lake Havasu High School was the recipient of a special gift today.
Meghan Ulmer, science department chair at LHHS, introduced the gift and explained.
“We’re here for a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the habitat that I started with Arizona Game and Fish. It was funded partially through the Heritage Grant and then through a bunch of local sponsors and companies,” Ulmer said.
“Its basically an outdoor classroom. Art can go out there and draw, English can go out there and read and write, special ed can go out there. There’s science, there’s a pond, there’s tortoises, there’s a whole array of different things for every curriculum to go out there. Since we can’t do field trips for funding, they can go out there and have the same experience,” she said.
Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors and school officials gathered Tuesday afternoon to dedicate a new outdoor habitat that will be used for students to study. This project has taken a year to complete and was constructed by Ulmer and family, NHS day of service, Lori Spradlin, Mohave County Master Gardeners, Canyon Landscaping, Masonry and more.
This does my heart good. Meghan Ulmer is our Daughter. Her father and I live in Syracuse NY and we would like to thank to for allowing us to be able to see this article. We are so very proud.
