Lake Havasu High School volleyball, swim, cross country (individual), football, and Band of Knights all qualified to compete in the state tournaments.

The Band of Knights placed third at the Semi-Finals — hosted by Desert Vista High School — and is headed to the state championships. Earning a “Superior,” with a score of 75.689, the band is making history for LHHS.

“The band’s championships will take place on Nov. 15, at Glendale Community College. We would like to thank the people that helped to make our success possible — our chaperones, volunteers and our staff,” said band teacher Kimberly Schreiber.

The band is going into the competition optimistic, as they achieved Lake Havasu High School Band’s best score yet at the semi-finals.

The volleyball team traveled to Arizona College Prep for its playoff game on Nov. 5. Although they ended up losing the game, the opportunity to travel for a state competition was exciting for the whole volleyball team.

“I am so proud of our team for making it to the playoffs this season. We all worked so hard for this and I am thankful to have played with such a strong, supportive team my senior year, ” said volleyball senior, Emma Trejo.

Swim made it to the state competition with 12 swimmers going, eight of them being seniors. They will be competing in the preliminary heats on Friday, at the Skyline Aquatic Center in Mesa.

The swim finals are Saturday at the Skyline Aquatic Center.

From the LHHS cross country team, Athena Conway qualified individually for the State Championship, hosted on Nov. 15.

She is one of seven individuals from the Metro Sectional Meet to advance, making it an impressive feat.

On Friday, the football team will have their first round playoff game against Sierra Linda at the local Lee Barnes Stadium.

When asked about the playoffs, football coach Karl Thompson said, “It’s just been great to see this team progress. There’s been a lot of hard work, dedication, sweat, tears, grit and grind to get to this moment by them. And to see them change so many team and individual records and find success in their efforts is just fabulous.”

The team has played some of their best games this season, winning eight out of 10 of their games so far.

The team tight end and linebacker, Trevor Thompson, spoke about their team dynamics.

“Coach Thompson has been a key factor in keeping us motivated and pushing us to perform our best. This team has a bond like no other and we hope to do great things in the playoffs.”

The last time the Lake Havasu High school football team qualified for the playoffs was 2022, making this many of the teams’ first playoff.

Tickets are available online for the football playoff game at gofan.co.

We wish the Knights from each sport luck at their respective tournaments.
