This year’s Leadership Lake Havasu class unveiled a newly completed accessible swing set alongside donors and community members, at a special ribbon cutting at Rotary Community Park, Tuesday.
“Lake Havasu City is a special place, and this project is very special to everyone,” said Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy as he addressed the community.
Each year, Leadership Lake Havasu class participants are tasked with a class project that raises funds for the Chamber Foundation For Education and Leadership. It is also a leadership development program designed to educate individuals to assume leadership roles within the Lake Havasu City community.
This year, the Leadership Lake Havasu class began working on a legacy project led by class project manager Leonard Lacy, which included a special accessible swing set at Rotary Park and mobility mats that will help create an easy pathway for wheelchairs and scooters around the park.
The all abilities swing set will allow children of all abilities to access the swings and accommodates those who cannot use those found at most parks and playgrounds.
Donors and supporters were also recognized at the ribbon cutting ceremony for their sponsorship and support of the class project.
Those recognized included Anderson Toyota, Robert Smith, Havasu Pest Control, Lake Havasu City Rotary Club, A & E Services LLC, PLLC, Milemarkers, Arizona Credit Financial Credit Union, Concord General Contracting, Marathon Staffing, Telesis Preparatory Academy, Kiwanis Of Lake Havasu City, First Savings Bank, Sterlite Corporation, Unisource Energy, Matthew Allbaugh, Foothills Bank, Bunker Bar, Environmental Waste Services, NSC Certified Public Accountants, Michael Alan Furniture And Design , A & B Propane, All State-Hollowell Insurance Agency, A Team Real Estate Professionals, Havasu Mobility Scooters, LLC, Lone Elk, Hagest Family, London Bridge Rotary Club, Arizona Detail Supply, Servpro, and Arizona Premium Water.
Leadership Lake Havasu Foundation Board and (CFEL) co-chairs, Lake Havasu Area Chamber along with city council members Nancy Campbell, David Lane and students and staff from Starline Elementary were also in attendance.
