Lake Havasu High School Lady Knights basketball team is set to host its first Basketball Shoot A-Thon Fundraiser this Saturday, at the Lake Havasu High School Gymnasium and invites the public to attend.
“We are trying to raise funds to attend some more tournaments out of town and acquire new uniforms for the girls,” said Jessica Forster, head junior varsity basketball coach for Lady Knights. “This is the first year we are rolling this out with the help with our sponsors Anderson Toyota and Culvers,” Forster said.
The Shoot A-Thon fundraiser involves players shooting free throws while raising money for their team.
“It can go either way, there’s a set pay that people can donate depending on the number of shots made,” Forster said. “Team members also ask family members to donate money per shot and those interested can come and donate at the fundraiser on saturday or write a check to the high school as well.”
For those interested in participating in the Shoot A-Thon to support the Lady Knights basketball can attend Saturday, noon to 2 p.m. at the main gym at Lake Havasu High School located at 2675 Palo Verde South.
Event entrance will be through back gates since main campus will be closed.
“We just want our girls basketball teams out in the community and known as well, varsity coach Phillip Hansen and myself want to build up this program as well and get people to donate. “The goal is to also get more girls involved in basket programs in Lake Havasu City. Eventually we can get girls playing basketball sooner than the highschool and middle school levels down the road.”
