Three newly formed girls softball travel teams have been added to the Vipers Baseball organization this year and are ready to hit the field running in Lake Havasu City.
The Havasu Vipers is known for its youth and Little League boy’s baseball teams and have been around for several years. This year, the newly added Havasu Lady Vipers girls softball team is ready to play for the new season with one of the teams managed by Stevie Trevett and The 14U league, coached by Ramses Arellano.
“We are a traveling girls team and we are getting the softball team going in Lake Havasu, since we haven’t had a softball team here in a quite a while,” said Arellano. “The Vipers decided to form one when they were often asked why there wasn’t a girls team in Havasu yet.”
There are three age divisions within the softball teams. One for youth under 12 or “12u”, the 14u league, which is a transitional team for girls ages 13-14. They then move on from Little League to adult-status teams. And from there, is the 16U league for ages 15-16 managed by JT and coaches “Carly” and ” Kendall.”
“These girls have played a lot of recreational ball in Havasu, and we want to make sure these girls are able to develop the skills to eventually try out for their school teams at their middle school or high school and go play,” Arellano said.
The excitement for the new season is also apparent for its players who are ready to strut their skills on the field.
“I like the practices and getting to travel is going to be really fun,” said freshman and Lady Viper, Kaylee Anderson.
“I like the energy that we bring, and having to travel. I like playing and am loving everything about it,” said Lady Viper and seventh-grader Olivia Trevett.
“All the girls are really nice because its a real team effort,” said freshman and Lady Viper Sophia Arellano. “It’s fun and getting to travel and meet others will be fun.”
With the help of the community and business sponsors, the Havasu Lady Vipers and the rest of the other teams within the Viper Baseball organization, were able to acquire team uniforms and game equipment.
“We have a total of eight baseball teams and three softball teams this season under Havasu Viper Baseball, and now Havasu Lady Vipers. The uniforms have been sponsored by businesses in town so that none of the players families are responsible for paying for their own uniform,” said Viper Baseball Boys Coach Scottie Taylor. “We welcome everyone to check out our website for the upcoming game schedule for the Vipers and now Havasu Lady Vipers.”
Havasu Lady Viper team sponsors include Air Control, Lake Havasu Marina, Angel’s Creative Landscaping, Lakeside Heart & Vascular Center, Campbell Redi-Mix, and Lake Havasu Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 47.
Havasu Vipers boys team sponsors include Anderson Toyota, Big O Tires and APX Real Estate Group.
“I want us to win some tournaments, eventually go further than Mohave County, like Phoenix, Vegas and California, but mainly instill confidence in these girls to move on to their school teams,” Arellano said.
