For families who lose babies through miscarriage, stillbirth and other complications, the trauma and heartache is real.

To that end, Rae of Hope is an organization started by the Weaver Family after they lost their daughter Raelynn when Tamara Weaver was almost 22 weeks pregnant.

The Weavers then decided to help other families babies to miscarriage or stillbirth and in August 2014, Rae of Hope was incorporated.

Over the past weekend, Rae of Hope hosted a 5K run/walk to help bring the rainbow after the rain for grieving families.

The 5K raised $2,715 , which will go toward helping families with funeral expenses and a Cuddle Cot which will be placed in a hospital for babies miscarried or stillborn. About 80 people registered for the walk.

“Thank you everyone that came out to support the community and the cause to honor our babies. Pregnancy/infant loss is not something that is talked about but it affects one in for women. This event helps break through this stigma to give each other greatly needed support,” Tamera Weaver said.

After a miscarriage, a sibling that is born is called a “rainbow baby,” and many rainbow babies were on hand to walk in memory of their lost brother or sister.
