Despite a few windy days, the weather cooperated Saturday morning, resulting in a beautiful Saturday morning Lake Havasu City hot air balloon launch.
The Saturday morning ascension was one of many events that took place during the 14th annual Lake Havas Balloon Festival and Fair.
Even when the balloons didn’t fly, there were numerous entertainment opportunities that were all crowd pleasers. From live music to carnival rides to a kid’s area to vendors and beer booths – there was something for everyone. Not to mention the spectacular balloons on display.
A special day Jan. 9, pilots brought their balloons to local schools to the delight of students as they were treated to a crash course in what it’s like to operate and fly one of the beauties.
Saturday morning, as did every morning of the festival, kicked off with a flag ceremony performed by the Lake Havasu Marine Corps League Color Guard and the Coca-Cola balloon.
Over the years, more than $1,000,000 has been distributed back to community nonprofits and service organizations directly from the festival proceeds through local Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs. Funds from this year’s event will be distributed at a later date.
Here are photos from the Havasu Balloon Festival’s Saturday morning’s launch.
