Lake Havasu area teachers are preparing their classrooms this week for back to school.
Oro Grande Elementary teachers were setting up desks, placing posters on the walls, and putting books on shelves to be ready for Monday morning.
“I am really looking forward to teaching this year because I took a class over the summer where I’m going to incorporate what I’ve learned using technology and Google Classroom. Even though this is my 21st year to teach, I’m as excited as if it’s my first,” said sixth-grade teacher Dawn Smith.
“I am excited to inspire a group of children to discover a new love of reading,” said fourth-grade teacher Scott Richards.
The first day of school for both Lake Havasu Unified School District and Telesis Preparatory Academy is Monday. Havasu Preparatory Academy begins school Aug. 9.
Enforcement of 15 mph school zones speed limits begins on the first day of school from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorists are encouraged to be watchful for school children walking, riding bikes or skateboards along various routes toward school buildings and more pedestrian activity in general.
