It’s never too early to gain an insight into the innerworkings of the Lake Havasu City community and its public servants.
One way Telesis Preparatory Academy second-grade students are learning about how their city works is hearing from its leaders, in person.
Lake Havasu City Mayor Cal Sheehy visited the second-grade classes of Noelle Fallis and Don Shade last week.
Fallis was a student at Telesis for K-12 and is now one of its teachers.
“I thought it was important for students to understand the importance of serving your community. Mayor Sheehy has been a great example of service over the years,” Fallis said.
“One of the many roles of teachers, is to help students understand how to be a good community member. There is no person better than our mayor talking about citizenship and the role people play in the community. ”
Mayor Sheehy discussed the importance for students to register to vote when they turn 18, and more importantly, to vote so their voices are heard.
He encouraged students to give back to the Lake Havasu community and be active in local, state and national elections when they became older.
The second-grade classes were learning about government last week.
