The month of August is just around the corner which means many kids will begin a new school year in Lake Havasu City. To help families with needed school standardized shirts and supplies, The Clothes Closet nonprofit will host its annual Back to School Care Fair July 20.

The Clothes Closet will provide breakfast, free hair cuts and many resources for families.

“These fairs are very important because we do have lower income families in town, especially with rent going up so high, said Clothes Closet Founder and CEO, Christine Buntemeyer. “This helps them with a hands up for their children. You don’t want to be that child that goes to school without a new pair of shoes.”

Buntemeyer said this particular fair is a bit different from other back to school fairs since it is more focused on providing clothing and other resources and less medical-centered, which is also greatly needed by families.

“We have resources for our teens as well that will assist them with career training and job searching,” Buntemeyer  said.

The Clothes Closet is still in need of donations such as new and used school shirts, new underwear, socks and new shoes. Businesses and individuals are welcome to donate and all donations are appreciated.

The Back To School Care Fair is at the Clothes Closet, located at 1968 Mesquite Ave., from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.

For more information on donating or on the fair, call the Clothes Closet at 928-230-3113 or stop by from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The nonprofit’s mission is to strive to provide free clothing, and to be a place of restoring, hope, worthiness, respect and dignity by utilizing existing relationships and accessing other community resources to help further help individuals/families obtain needed services.
