The well-known classic story of “The Nutcracker” showcases an evening of adventure full of wonder and a magical land where snowflakes dance, flowers waltz and toys come to life, and the community is invited to join in the magic.
Tonight through the Sunday, dancers with Lake Havasu Ballet will take the stage with three special showings of the holiday classic at the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center.
Different levels of dance students from advanced to beginner, worked since early fall under the direction of Artistic Director Nathan Cottam from auditions for certain roles to rehearsals to time spent perfecting the choreography by choreographers Sarah Aitken, Marcus Bugler, Stephanie Schmidt, Sandy Fritz and Traci Cottam.
Show goers will also be treated to beautiful sets along with handmade costumes by volunteers Kim Krick, JoAnn Cottam, Katie Kemp, Julie Day and Martha Ganes, plus a Christmas market before the show.
The show is in it’s second year. Last year, its inagural showing sold out. For that reason, the public has an extra oportunity to catch the show this year.
Performances take place tonight at 7 p.m., Saturday 7 p.m., with an early showing on Sunday, at 2 p.m., in the Lake Havasu High School Performing Arts Center located at 2675 Palo Verde Blvd. South.
