October is just around the corner which means Main Street in Lake Havasu City will soon be filled with candy stations and trick-or-treaters during the annual Fright Night event on Halloween night.
A staple of the night, Thriller Flashmob dancers, will return to spook and entertain the crowds with their dance moves. For Havasu residents who would like to take part in the dancing fun, now is their chance to join in.
“We have no limit on the amount of dancers we need. Ages 10 and up are welcome to join us,” said organizer Oni Studler.
Havasu Fright Night has been around for more than 18 years in Downtown McCulloch, and is hosted by the Downtown Association, and the Thriller Flashmob Dance group takes part independently and display their spooky dance skills inspired by the late Michael Jackson.
According to Sandy Hickox, the thriller performance has been a tradition that started more than 14 years ago with the very first performance directed by dance instructor Marlo Waters.
“The Thriller performance has been under the direction of previous organizers and dance instructors. I took it on for 10 years than took a break about three years, but this year I am back and looking for many dancers to join us,” said Studler “The more the merrier.”
For those looking to take part in the group, there will be two performances during Fright Night on Oct. 31. Ages 10 and up are welcome.
Rehearsals will begin Sept. 4., at at 6:30 p.m. at Fit Lab 928, located at 537 Lake Havasu Ave.
Children ages 10-13 must have an adult participating with them. The cost to participate for adults is $20, and children 10 years of age and up are $10.
