The Young Adult Development Association of Havasu hosted the eighth Annual Walk Away From Drugs event Friday at the Main Street Commons in Lake Havasu City.

This event featured resources for those struggling with, or affected by those struggling with substance abuse.

Lake Havasu City Mayor, Cal Sheehy, presented a proclamation honoring the event.

Walk Away From Drugs is planned a year in advance by the Young Adult Development Association of Havasu (YADAH).

Ricarda Deanda, planner of the walk said, “We couldn’t do it without the community partners that we have and everyone collaborating to make an event like this come to life.”

“Really what we’re excited about the most is year after year, we want to bring as much awareness around this issue because it does affect all of our lives in some way,” Deanda continued.

Participants in the walk followed a route down Main Street, up Mesquite Avenue, and back down to the Main Street Commons.
