Earth Day is right around the corner on April 22, but Lake Havasu City’s three Rotary clubs got a head start on activities to clean up the area.

Lake Havasu City Rotary Club, together with End Plastic Soup — a global Rotary initiative focused on eliminating single-use plastics and protecting our waterways — helped bring Earth Day to our local community.

The London Bridge and Sunrise Rotary clubs quickly joined the effort, along with local organizations and passionate residents, all united in honoring the planet through the cleanup of area waterways, desert, parks and highways.

The Earth Day Cleanup in the Lake Havasu City was today. Following sites were targeted for the cleanup.

Lake Havasu City Rotary Club/ADOT highway cleanup was a long State Route 95.

Folks gathered on the Island area to work on cleaning up beach areas in that area.

Lake Havasu State Park and Windsor Beach was also a target of those cleaning up.

The Lake Havasu State Park shoreline was part of the cleanup plan.

Lake Havasu State Park hosted a free tasting event, beginning with a volunteer shoreline cleanup from 8-11 a.m., with all volunteers (all organizations) invited to sample the Windsor Beach Blonde while enjoying raffles, musical entertainment, and food available for purchase.

Desert cleanup was conducted by the Mohave County Sheriff’s office, and Body Beach was also part of the project.

The Foothills Bank team worked to clean up the intersection of State Route 95 and Kiowa, while SARA Park was also one of the sites of the cleanup.

Clean-up sites 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 were coordinated by local Rotarians. Appreciation for Sergeant Kyler Cox (desert) and Dan Roddy with Arizona State Parks was extended by the clubs. Republic Services donated trash bags and trash bins that were located at Anderson Team sites, Anderson Powersports.
