More than 60 incoming Lake Havasu High School freshmen are spending a few weeks prepping for not only the high school experience but also for math classes.

According to math teacher Larry Olsen, students are reviewing expressions and equations in the SMART program. SMART stands for Summer Math Algebra Readiness and Transition.

“Some students are even learning basic trigonometry and intro to matrices,” Olsen said.

The students also get an early intro to the high school campus in preparation for their new experience.

The first day of school for Lake Havasu Unified School District students is Aug. 6.
