Three second-grade classes at Starline Elementary in Lake Havasu City watched the recent fruits of their labor fly away Thursday.

The students watched the entire process of metamorphosis of painted lady butterflies over the past few months in the classroom.

“We’ve been doing this for seven years,” Starline teach Miss Kirvin said Thursday.

“They love watching the metamorphosis from caterpillar to chrysalis to butterfly,” she said.
