Lake Havasu City’s veterans were the recipients of the generosity of a local fundraising effort put together by Hav-A-Sis and the Lake Havasu Golf Club Nov. 15.
Jake Roy, director of golf at the Havasu Golf Club, told RiverScene Magazine he had put together a country concert fundraiser for local veterans. “Heroes of Havasu” came together, and Roy was looking for a nonprofit to help with the event.
“Just then, Connie Alexander of Hav-A-Sis came to me about planning a golf tournament to support veterans. I said, ‘That’s perfect. Let’s put these two events together and make it one big event to help our town,’” Roy said.
“And then (Echo Group) Band of Brothers came along and partnered with Hav-A-Sis and it turned into a good, big event for our community.”
Connie Alexander, founder of Hav-A-Sis said she was happy to present a check for $20,000 to the Echo Group Band of Brothers.
“We want to thank the Band of Brothers for what you’re doing to take care of each other and to take care of the community and taking care of us,” Alexander said.
Stacy Lee, copresident of Echo Group Band of Brothers and president of Echo Group Band of Brothers Arizona was on hand to accept the donation.
“I am so elated and amazed and so proud of all the members of Band of Brothers because they work hard and they also play hard and for that to be recognized in this way is just astounding,” Lee said.
“I think my heart stopped for a second and then I had to remind myself to breathe and then I cried. It was pretty amazing. Very unexpected for sure,” she said about the donation to the organization.
