In 1988, the first National Cancer Survivors Day was celebrated and since then the day has been marked on the first Saturday in June.
Saturday, cancer survivors in Lake Havasu City gathered to celebrate the day with a breakfast sponsored by the Cancer Association of Havasu.
Most of those in attendance all had one thing in common … cancer.
Mayor Mark Nexsen and HRMC CEO Mike Patterson both spoke at the breakfast.
The oldest survivor at Saturday’s breakfast was 96-year-old Dona Malleis.
