Lake Havasu City’s Jamie Larson has been making jewelry since she was in sixth grade.
She first began making jewelry as a hobby after reading a book in which paperclip earrings were made. After creating her own earrings from paper clips, Larson was hooked and she began making jewelry all the time.
Larson makes a variety of jewelry including crystal jewelry, dog tags and stamp jewelry. It can take Larson anywhere from weeks to day to an hour to create her pieces.
Inspiration comes easy, Larson said. Simply seeing an item at the hardware store or flipping through a magazine, Larson can be motivated to create a piece of jewelry.
“Anything can spark an idea,” Larson said.
While Larson is a jewelry maker, she also works at Safeway, and is a full-time mother. Despite all her time-consuming endeavors, Larson is most passionate about making jewelry.
“I can be at work or at home and all I’m thinking about is the next thing that I want to make,” Larson said.
While jewelry making is currently only part-time, she hopes to one day make it a full-time operation.
As more orders pour in for the unique things that Larson makes, social media is also in the mix.
On Pinterest, Larson posted a barn-wood frame with flowers around it. It later worked its way to 85,000 re-pins.
