First Place Top Chef Award Goes To Mudshark Brewery

Mudshark Brewery won Havasu Top Chef Thursday evening at the London Bridge Resort Convention Center. The seven resteraunts that competed for top honors included Boat House Grill, College Street Brewhouse, Havasu Regional Medical Center, Four Clovers, The Nautical Turtle Grille, Mudshark Brewery and Ojala.

Team members for each restaurant:

Boathouse Grill: Francine Hernandez and Tommy Borne

College Street Brewery: Gary Chacon and Tiffany Taylor

Four Clovers: Daniel Lynn and Jonathan Jimenez

Havasu Regional Medical Center: Trula Hepner and Dusty Turpin

The Nautical, Turtle Grille: John Andreola and Joel Contreras

Mudshark Brewery: Ben Groeger and Victor Martinez

Ojala: Karla Bennett and Mabelle Tapia

Awards:

1st place: Mudshark Brewery

2nd place: College Street Brewery

3rd place: Havasu Regional Medical Center

4th: The Nautical Resort Turtle Grill

People’s Choice: Boathouse Grill

Each restaurant team was given a box of ingredients and  20 minutes to come up with a plate made of those ingredients. There were three rounds. And the heat was on as each team worked their magic with the ingredients they were given.

Three judges then tasted each dish and gave their scores. The judges were Chef Christopher Gallaga, of WCEC, Chef Carolyn Frey and Chef Alana Johnson.

Guests at the event were given samples from all of the resteraunts and wine tasting was also available. The live auction that was held was emcee’d by Tim Diskin of Jack F.M. radio and Darrell Sheets of “Storage Wars”.

W.A.V.E students from Lake Havasu High School were on hand to serve the food at the event.
