Havasu Adapting To Coronavirus Concerns

With Arizona Gov. Ducey’s recent address and countrywide concerns regarding the COVID-19 virus, many events and gatherings are being postponed or cancelled. Things are changing constantly, but as of today, these are the Havasu happenings that have been affected:

Community Events

•Chamber mixer hosted by Bradley Ford is postponed indefinitely. They will host again in October 2020.
•The Havastartup Award ceremony at ASU scheduled for today from 3:45 to 5 p.m., is canceled. Awards will be presented at a later date.
•Better Biz Bash, which was to be held on March 26, has been postponed until further notice.
•The Home Show has been postponed until October 2-4, 2020.
•Teen Break is cancelled.
•Mile Marker’s Has Talent on March 26, will be postponed until a later date.
•Renaissance Faire is postponed until September.
•Grace Arts Live production of “Matilda” will be postponed until the fall season. “South Pacific” will be closing immediately.
•Havasu 95 Speedway race is cancelled this weekend with an eye toward April 11.
•The Museum of History is closed through March 30, all programs within that time frame are cancelled. They will reassess the situation after the 30th.

Local Government Restrictions and Closures

•All Fire Stations are closed to public tours and non-emergency contact.
•The Aquatic/Community Center is closed and remains closed until further notice. This includes fitness classes, lap swim, open swim, pickleball in the gym, and all events and meetings scheduled at the facility. The city is monitoring the latest information to determine when it is safe to re-open.
•The Justice and Municipal Courts are limiting lobby access and are serving only calendared hearings, warrants, and order of protection. Correspondence and filings to the courts can be placed in the drop-box or mailed. Payments are made by visiting azcourtpay.com, or by contacting the Municipal Court at 928-453-0748 or Justice Court at 928-453-0705
•All events, activities, and meetings scheduled on City properties and in City facilities that exceed the CDC’s recommendation for the number of people in a public gathering, are canceled to a date to be determined. All prepaid temporary business licenses are refunded.
•The library has cancelled all programs for the month of march.

Church

•At Calvary, until March 27, all on-campus gatherings and activities are canceled–this includes weekend services on all campuses. They are offering a livestream worship experience on Saturday at 5 p.m., and Sunday at 8, 9:30, and 11 a.m. The sermon will also be available online after the weekend services.
•Lakeview will begin online Bible studies, Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. This goes on through March 29 tentatively, may be extended depending on recommendations.
•Lake Havasu Baptist Church will be closed until March 27, offering sermons and family activities on their website lakehavasubaptistchurch.com or their Facebook page.
•Community Presbyterian Church will have live streaming only available for their service on March 22, check out their website www.havasupresby.org
•Our Lady of the Lake has cancelled services until future notice.
•Abundant Grace will be hosting services online on abundantgracelhc.org

School and Lunches

•Lake Havasu Unified School District has cancelled classes through March 27. HPA and Telesis are also closed until March 27.
•LHUSD along with Taher will be offering grab and go drive through meals to children 18 and younger during the school closure beginning Monday, March 23. Free meals, no paperwork needed, children must be present. Monday-Friday 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

    Are the children able to go to the closest school near to them or will they be required to be driven further to get the meal? I’m gathering this will be lunch only?
