Local tournament directors Mercedes Kaiser and Graham Russell and the Lake Havasu City Disc Golf Club hosted the 7th Annual Lake Havasu City Open Feb. 3-4, at SARA Park Disc Golf Course.

There were 148 players from across the U.S. competing in two rounds of 24-holes over two days.

“No matter where disc golfers are traveling from, they always feel like family to us. We love disc golf, we love the people, and the all-around camaraderie this event brings. Every year truly gets better,” the directors echoed.

With a continuing focus on growing the sport of disc golf and building a youth disc golf program in Lake Havasu City, the club raised more than $500 from raffle entries.

With the funds raised from the tournament, the club will purchase and provide disc golf equipment for local elementary schools.

The club has donated to two schools so far since putting their goal in action last year, and plan to continue.

For those interested in getting involved in disc golf, there are several courses in town, including free-to-play courses at SARA Park Disc Golf Course and Grand Island Park. If you would like to learn more, please reach out to the Lake Havasu City Disc Golf club via Facebook.
