What began as one mother’s search for connection during postpartum recovery, has grown into a support group for moms in Lake Havasu City.

In January 2023, The “Havasu Mama”  group was created by Kristin Bistline a mother herself who had recently moved from Orange County, California, and was also navigating early motherhood without a moms group or support group. With a 6-month-old baby at the time, she turned to social media in search of walking or workout groups for moms but came up empty.

“I figured I couldn’t be the only mom going through postpartum,” Havasu Mama  Founder, Kristn Bistline said. “That made me want to start one.”

Since then, the group has grown into an inclusive space where other mothers can share experiences, build friendships and find support and advice through the challenges of parenting.

‘The mission of Havasu Mama is to provide a welcoming environment where moms can connect with one another, participate in activities with their babies and toddlers, and feel less isolated during what can often be a difficult stage of life.

“Postpartum can be super tough, and it’s not fair to go through it alone,” Bistline said.

The group organizes a wide range of activities throughout the week, with its most popular being group walks at local parks around Lake Havasu City.

Other events include park playdates, mom-focused workouts, craft days, moms’ nights out and family-friendly field trips to destinations such as local fire stations and nearby towns.

Seasonal celebrations are also a part of the group, with it’s largest annual gathering taking place around Valentine’s Day.

“The group has changed my life in so many ways,” said Bistline.  “Most importantly, it has been such a blessing to have met so many amazing women and to see my son make so many friends.”

Now expecting her second child, she said she looks forward to continuing the journey with the support system she helped create.
