Lake Havasu City is not only known for its recreational outdoor activities and perfect weather, but it also has a wealth of night-life activities.

Thoughts about the average bar scene may conjure up those old stereotypes of heavy drinks and curtains of smoke, but those images are changing.

Bar owners in Havasu have tackled the changing times by offering a plethora of alternative entertainment options.

In the past, one would expect to go to a bar with few options other than to drink, shoot pool or throw darts. Of course, there are the social aspects that drive us as well, seeing old friends or perhaps even meeting some new ones.

It would be commonplace if you were to walk into one of the local Havasu bars to find a multitude of activities happening at once, cornhole, karaoke, live betting, open night mic, just to name a few. With the popularity of these activities increasing, many bars have decided to devote certain nights of the week for popular options.

RiverScene Magazine visited Hanger 24 for Geeks Who Drink, a really lively trivia game for teams, with prizes and fun all around.

Shellie Shauer has been going to Geeks at Hangar 24 every Thursday for almost two years. She’s won a few times with friends. “This is my favorite for sure. The types of questions, the atmosphere, everything. And the host, of course.”

Another bar, The Office, also hosts Trivia night on Tuesday evenings as well as Bingo, and Kokomo now hosts “Not Your Grandma’s Bingo” on Friday nights.

For those who include their canine partners in their social activities, there’s That Dane Bar, where dogs are welcome. They have robust beer pong activities.

College Street Brewery hosts Creative Comrades where folks gather to share artistic ideas and more.
