For those familiar praying with a rosary, they know how important they are for those who are ill or in need of spiritual guidance. One group in Lake Havasu City gets together once a month to make rosaries for those who need them.
The Oremous Rosary Makers Group in Lake Havasu City is one many rosary groups around the country under the umbrella of the official “OLM Our Lady Rosary Makers.” As for the group in Lake Havasu City, it was founded more than 20 years ago.
“Our mission is to make rosaries and ship them to many missions and then from there, they are shipped to others all over the world to people in need of rosaries,” said Oremous Rosary Makers President, Annette Troffer. ” We purchase the supplies from fundraisers we have and from there, they get sent to those missions who later send them to others around the world.”

The group has about 20 members and most of the rosary making is done at home, but members meet once a month to pick up supplies for the following month at Our lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Local resident Suzy Salinas serves as Vice President of the group since 2010, and said it brings her peace to be involved in making them.
“As soon as I retired, I joined the group,” Salinas said. “When we are doing them at the same time we get to pray so I am always praying. It also keeps you out of trouble and it gives you something to do that you love.”
The average time to complete about 10 rosaries is about an hour and a half, according to Salinas.
“I have lost count since I have a system in place to make about 10 of them at a time,” Salinas said.
The rosaries are also given to local ministries in town and to those who also need them in local prisons.

“We get letters from all around the world and from missionaries. That’s how we know where to send the rosaries as well.” said Rosary Maker Janel Silva.
Not only are the rosaries helping others around the world but in turn, the rosary makers say it’s helping them as the makers as well.
“We pray for the people who are going to recieve them, and in at the same time, the people who receive the rosaries pray for us,” said Treasurer, Linda Sodano. “I feel everyone should be praying the rosary because of the condition of the world today, so the more people praying the rosary, I feel the better off we are.”
