Lake Havasu High School auto shop class students debuted their new Hot Rod Knights car club with a car show Monday before a football game in Lake Havasu City.
The event was meant to introduce the newcomer club to the student body and to the community. There were 20-some cars registered and displayed. During the game, the participants did a halftime parade lap on the track around the football field.
Other facets of the event were the show-and-shine and hot dog dinner.
LHHS shop class instructor Don Miller oversees the group with LHHS senior-class student Adam Beebe leading the pack.
In an email to RiverScene Magazine.com, Beebe reported about 60 students who are currently interested in the group, and about 30 of those are very active.
Beebe also stated there are outside parties involved, too.
For example, local hot rod enthusiast Dick Stiller, who is a member of the Relics and Rods car club, said there are local car clubs currently mentoring the like-minded youth group.
