The Mohave Community College Big Horn Booster Club will host a chili Cook Off at Havasu Riviera this Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Community members and local businesses will compete for the best chili. Winners in each category will reveive cash prizes and the opportunity to win a spot at a national cookoff competition in 2024.

“We have 25 competitors. They will all be cooking on site, and will have a three-hour time frame to turn in their chili,” said Lake Havasu resident and organizer Tina Stocking. “They will all be cooking under pressure.”

The three competiting categories include Traditional Red, Best Green Chili (chili Verde), Homestyle category “everything goes” and the People’s Choice award.

Cash prizes includes 1st – $1,000, 2nd – $500, 3rd – $250, in every category. Proceeds benefit the MCC Bighorn Booster Club which is a private nonprofit which supports the tri-state regions National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) men’s and woman’s soccer teams.

A beer garden, games, corn hole, facepainting and live entertainment will also be onsite. Admisson price is $25 per person. Children under 12 years of age are free. Online ticket sales close at 7 p.m.
