The first project being facilitated by a new art group, Havasu Area Public Art, is “Deck our Halls,” an art contest to decorate the halls of Havasu Regional Medical Center. The purpose of the project is decoration and beautification of HRMC’s newly renovated facility with art that reflects the beauty of Lake Havasu City and activities of its citizens.
HAPA is a newly organized 501(c) 3 group dedicated to the beautification of Lake Havasu City through public art installations.
The contest, with $11,000 in prize money, invites the community to submit original paintings, drawings and photography. Entries chosen will be matted and framed by HRMC and prominently displayed in public areas of the hospital with an engraved plaque listing the name of the artist and the prize.
Cash prizes will be awarded to category winners in each medium.
There are two submission categories: London Bridge and Local Landscapes including Havasu activities. Prize awards vary from $2,000 for Best in Show to other cash awards from first place to honorable mention. Submissions for the contest will be taken at HRMC beginning Oct. 5 and will be accepted through Oct. 24. Judging begins Oct. 24-25.
