More than 70 school-aged children received shirts and shoes Saturday morning at the Lake Havasu City Aquatic Center.

Shirts and shoes were donated by residents in Lake Havasu to the nonprofit organization “Pay It Forward Havasu” over the past few weeks. Pay It Forward volunteers then helped give them to any child in need at the Aquatic Center.

Volunteer Shannon Williams said, “I volunteered today because it makes an impact on kids in our community and volunteering my time (as little as it is) makes a difference in our community. It is meaningful and rewarding.”

About 650 school shirts and 300 pairs of shoes were donated to the back-to-school event.
