When Teen Break in Lake Havasu City was cancelled last year because of COVID-19, what had been a Spring Break tradition caused pain for many.

But fear not, Teen Break is on for 2022 and registration begins Monday.

Teen Break is for children enrolled in sixth through 12th grades.

The program runs from noon until 5 p.m., March 15-March 17 at Rotary Park (south end). There is a $41 fee per participant for Teen Break and scholarships are available. There is no maximum number of participants, so all who register will be accepted, according to program director Sara Ross.

Participants can expect to enjoy activities including a U.S. Army-installed obstacle course, a basketball tournament, bumper cars, gaming tournament, sand volleyball, mud pit, the Patrick Tinnell Sports Complex skate park, and so much more.

Food and drink is provided and main-stage giveaways happen all day.

Since last year’s Teen Break was cancelled, there were hundreds of T-shirts that were not used. To the rescue came the Lake Havasu City Police Explorers who redesigned the shirts, and they will be used this year.

Registration can be completed online at www.lhcaz.gov. Click on Departments, go to Parks And Recreation and then to programs and activities. Or register in person at the Aquatic Center, 100 Lake Ave. For additional information and program requirements, call 928-453-8686.

Ross said the program is always seeking volunteers to assist with Teen Break. Call the above number for more information about volunteering.

Details of program requirements for participants and volunteers are available at the Parks and Recreation website.
