Members of Lake Havasu City Soroptimist International organization gathered on Tuesday, to honor local women in the pursuit of their goals with distributing more than $30,000 in grant funding at its annual Dream Benefit.

The Lake Havasu City Soroptimist members spent the past 12 months raising funds through charitable events like Chowderfest, Swing Into Golf, and its poker tournament.

These events are held throughout Havasu to raise funds so that the nonprofit can offer new opportunities for women in the local community.

“We gave away over $30,000 in grants to these amazing women and young ladies. …Our Soroptimist club worked hard all year to earn the funds to be able to support these women,” Soroptimist president Ann Holmgreen said.

She expressed special thanks to Anderson Auto Group and Andrea Collica Foote for partnering with us to award a $4,000 Job Training grant.

Fifteen women and girls received cash grants and scholarships at the event, which included funding raised for higher education or to meet their immediate financial needs.

Soroptimist member Lisa Jennings said, “This is a chance for us to honor women and girls, a chance to give back to our community and a chance to show the Lake Havasu City community what we can do.

“We’ve been here since 1971 – as long as the London Bridge, and all of the money we raise is from Havasu and given back to the women of Havasu.”

Currently, Soroptimist have a raffle ticket fundraiser happening.
