Michael Alan Furnishings celebrated its ninth annual Sleepless in Havasu event Friday night into Saturday morning.

According to Michael Alan’s Vanessa Liesen, funds raised by the event supports the Lake Havasu Cancer Association’s low-cost mammogram program.

“Participants solicit sponsors to pledge donations for them to stay sleepless overnight,” Liesen said.

Participants stay “sleepless” from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday. They play games, watch movies and have fun, according to Liesen. The theme for this year’s event is Dr. Seuss. Participants dressed as Dr. Seuss characters and decorated their beds in the same theme.

Michael Alan will announce the proceeds of the event at a later date.
